Top Ten Reasons to support the OMT
The Obershenk Medallion Trust is a Nonprofit Charitable Trust founded in 1996 and dedicated to promoting vocal music in Pittsburgh by providing professional development resources for exceptionally gifted singers. Each year, the Obershenk Medallion Trust is inspired to select an exceptionally gifted vocalist in the Pittsburgh area, and to provide resources for professional development (including coaching expenses, travel expenses, management leads, tuition reimbursement, performance opportunities, and a stipend) to the Trust Beneficiary.

The Obershenk Medallion Trust is proud to announce that its Beneficiary for 2002 is the exceptionally gifted tenor, Kevin E. Gruden.

Philanthropy at its best delivers the satisfaction of positive results. Whether you have been a participant in the Obershenk Medallion Trust in the past, or are learning about the Trust only now, we know you will savor the successes of the Trust beneficiary, Kevin Gruden, tenor. Please fuel the momentum of success with your new or renewed participation-let us hear from you. We look forward to welcoming you (again).

An Obershenk is the highest ranking Officer in the medieval Royal Chamber, together with the lesser ranking Officers of Seneschal, Droste and Dapifer and the enlisted rank of Tutelar. For an Obershenk, pre-Renaissance artistry languished but for the patronage of the nobility (many of whom, it should be noted, were accomplished musicians in their own right).
